It was Mothers' Day Weekend and family was visiting. Time to go to the beach! Chou Chou has never been on sand. Would she like the beach? Would the sand stick in her hair and never come out? Or would it come out all over the floor for days on end? I didn't know how she'd react, but off we went to Santa Cruz, CA for playtime on the beach!
It was a beautiful day - a great escape from Sacramento heat!
Chou Chou entered the beach cautiously, looking around
and figuring out what was going on.
Santa Cruz has three types of beaches: some do not allow dogs, some allow dogs on leashes, and others are off-leash beaches. We chose a beach where she would stay on leash.
It was windy, but Chou Chou loves the wind. She gets frisky!
And she likes water, too.
She had never seen seagulls before.
We spent a couple hours on the beach and then it was time to go. Let's see if all the sand falls out of her coat and onto the hotel floor! (No, no! None in the hotel! I am a very tidy puppy! I shook off all the sand while we were in the car!")
Next day, we went to a park called Roaring Camp. There were fun things for Chou Chou to do. ("I am a brave puppy! I wanted to take a train ride but it didn't move. Maybe it was broken!")
("This wagon didn't move, either! What fun is this?")
We didn't stay very long. There was a wedding going on and we didn't want to get in the way. Besides, we had a long drive home and everyone was very sleepy.
The little girls and Chou Chou fell fast asleep in the car --
on each other. ("They were very comfy!")
